About Indian Coast Guard:
The Indian Coast Guard is a multi-mission organisation with surface and air operations capability. This organisation is led by the Director-General of the Indian Coast Guard, with command and control based at the coast guard headquarters in New Delhi. The team will be very careful when recruiting officers and other services for this organisation, so they will choose the best candidates for the job.
Educational Qualification:
General Duties:
Candidates who have completed a bachelor’s degree from a recognised university with a minimum of 60% in aggregate (i.e., first semester to 8th semester for BE/B.Tech Course candidates or first year to last year for bachelor’s degree candidates wherever applicable).
Mathematics and Physics as subjects up to intermediate or class XII of the 10+2+3 education scheme, or equivalent, with a combined grade point average of 60% in Mathematics and Physics. Candidates who do not have Physics and Math at the 10+2 (intermediate) or equivalent level are ineligible for General Duty (GD).
Commercial Pilot Admission (CPL-SSA):
Candidates who hold a current/valid Commercial Pilot Licence (CPL) issued or validated by the Director General of Civil Aviation are eligible (DGCA). Minimum educational requirement: an XIIth pass (Physics and Mathematics) with a grade point average of 60%.
Technical (Mechanical):
- Should have a recognised university Engineering degree in Naval Architecture, Mechanical, Marine, Automotive, Mechatronics, Industrial and Production, Metallurgy, Design, Aeronautical, or Aerospace with a minimum of 60% aggregate marks.
OR Equivalent qualification in any of the above disciplines recognised by the Institutes of Engineers (India) as exempt from sections ‘A’ and ‘B’, as well as their associate membership examination (AMIE).
- Mathematics and Physics as subjects up to intermediate or class XII of the 10+2+3 education scheme, or equivalent, with a minimum aggregate mark of 55% in Mathematics and Physics. Candidates who have completed their graduation after completing their diploma are also eligible, provided they have an aggregate of 55% marks in their diploma curriculum, which includes physics and mathematics.
Technical (Electrical & Engineering):
- Should have a recognised university Engineering degree in Electrical or Electronics or Telecommunications or Instrumentation or Instrumentation and Control or Electronics and Communication or Power Engineering or Power Electronics with a minimum of 60% aggregate marks.
- Mathematics and Physics as subjects up to intermediate or class XII of the 10+2+3 education scheme, or equivalent, with a minimum aggregate mark of 55% in Mathematics and Physics. Candidates who have completed their graduation after completing their diploma are also eligible, provided they have an aggregate of 55% marks in their diploma curriculum, which includes physics and mathematics.
Age Limit:
- General Duty -Born between 1 July 1997 and 30 June 2001 (Both dates inclusive)
- Commercial Pilot Entry (CPL-SSA)-Born between July 1, 1997, and June 30, 2003 (Both dates inclusive).
- Technical Born between July 1, 1993, and June 30, 2001 (Both dates inclusive).

Up to 5 years for SC/ST

Process Of Recruitment For The Indian Coast Guard:
Officer Recruits are chosen using an all-India order of merit based on their performance in various stages of examination (I – V) and the number of vacancies available for the post .Clearance of Stages I, II, III, IV, and V is required for ICG recruitment. During various stages of the examination, all candidates will be subjected to biometric, photo identification, and document verification.
